Designed to be used in the field by infantry or other military personnel, the Marathon General Purpose Quartz (GPQ) with Date is built to the strict military standards and made from high-impact fibreshell, which does not sacrifice quality or durability while keeping weight low. The fibershell case has a passive matte finish that aids in protecting infantry positions as this finish does not provide a reflective surface which would occur on a normal metal case.

Marathon is also best known for using perpetually and autonomously glowing Tritium gas tubes to illuminate the dials. The GPQ uses Tritium on each hour marker and hand. Tritium is a trusted source of illumination for military equipment, from watches to aeronautical displays, firearm sights, and binoculars. Tritium tubes glow on their own without the need for charging by an external light source, and will not fade in brightness making it an ideal configuration for nighttime or low light operation.

Features No Government markings on the dial.
